  • TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 27, 2009

    Sep 28, 2009

St. James warns in today’s second reading that those who hoard their wealth and live only for themselves will be condemned. But in the Gospel, Jesus assures us that all who give of themselves for His sake will be rewarded.

  • THE MOST HOLY TRINITY JUNE 7, 2009

    Jun 08, 2009

Go . . . and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
    — Matthew 28:19

  • PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 31, 2009

    May 30, 2009

Happy Pentecost! We rejoice in the gift of the Holy Spirit who descended upon the apostles – who is alive and well and at work in the church, the family of faith today!

  • SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - MAY 24, 2009

    May 24, 2009

The soldier crosses the walkway in twenty-one carefully measured steps. The soldier then faces the marble monument for twenty-one seconds, turns, and pauses yet another twenty-one seconds before retracing his steps. The tribute is repeated over and over again, day and night, in honor of all the “unknowns” who served our country.

  • SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER MAY 17, 2009

    May 16, 2009

Why Anointing of the Sick? Because it is a reflection of the love of our Risen Lord and his compassion towards the suffering! It’s St. James who reminds of this and the importance of this Sacrament.

  • SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER: DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY APRIL 19, 2009

    Apr 21, 2009

If I were to ask you which passage in the Bible best reflects the “Divine Mercy,” you might protest that it is a trick question. And you would be right! There are many passages throughout scripture that reveal God’s tremendous love and mercy. In fact, the entire Bible is a revelation of God’s unconditional love for all of us!

  • Second Sunday of Lent - March 8, 2009

    Mar 07, 2009

One part of the celebration of First Reconciliation last weekend was a reading from the Gospel of St. Luke. This particular Gospel poses a question as well as suggests an answer! The question is this: “Who among you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until it is found?” The presumed answer is that any caring and loving shepherd would be out there searching until that lost sheep is found and returned to be with the others.

  • FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 1, 2009

    Feb 01, 2009

“Through the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from every disease of the throat and from every other illness: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” No doubt, my friends, this blessing will be repeated many times as the faithful come forward to have their throats blessed this coming Tuesday, February 3rd. Why do we get our throats blessed on St. Blaise Day? Why has this celebration continued with such great popularity? Certainly, the answer to these questions has much to do with the life of St. Blaise; what is known as fact and the legends surrounding him as well.

  • THIRD SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 25, 2009

  • THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD JANUARY 11, 2009

    Jan 10, 2009

The children had practiced many times for the annual Christmas Pageant, and finally it came time for the dress rehearsal. The story unfolded magnificently! Mary and Joseph arrived at the stable, the shepherds came to visit Jesus, and, eventually, the three kings entered and knelt at the crib to present their gifts. Following the rehearsal, one of the three king’s dads asked his son: “Billy, do you know the name of the king that you are representing in the show?”

  • THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD JANUARY 4, 2009

    Jan 03, 2009

A husband and wife decided to start out the New Year right and resolved to go on a diet. They subscribed to a program that “guaranteed” weight loss if you followed the directions. So, the couple got all the pre-packaged meals they needed for January plus. They took each entrée out of the box and baked or put it in the microwave as prescribed. They would then divide it in half and sit down to enjoy their meal. The diet seemed wonderful; they had plenty of energy and never felt hungry. The day of “reckoning” came on January 31st when they took turns standing on the scale.

  • HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY,AND JOSEPH DECEMBER 28, 2008

    Dec 26, 2008

Billy’s mom was very carefully unpacking the nativity set. Was such great caution necessary? Well it was, in fact, a “Hummel Collection” that had been passed down to her from her grandparents. Each figurine was “double wrapped” and boxed, no chance that anything would get chipped or broken.

  • Fourth Sunday of Advent December 21, 2008
